About

Vision

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) at ASP College Devrukh exemplifies the motto Unity and Discipline, shaping young individuals from diverse backgrounds into disciplined, united, and responsible citizens. Serving as one of India’s strongest unifying forces, the NCC aims to instill in cadets core values of character, camaraderie, selfless service, and a spirit of adventure. Through its programs, the NCC also equips cadets with vital leadership skills, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society, regardless of their chosen career paths.

Establishment and Growth at ASP College

NCC activities commenced at ASP College in the academic year 2016-17, initially enrolling boys and later expanding to include girls from the academic year 2019-20. Today, the college supports two wings of the NCC:

  • Naval Wing: 50 cadets (33 boys and 17 girls), under the 2 MAH NAVAL UNIT NCC, Ratnagiri.
  • Army Wing: 54 cadets (36 girls and 18 boys), under the 58 MAH Bn NCC, Sindhudurg.

Cadet Training and Progression

NCC cadet training at ASP College follows a structured path designed to progressively develop the skills, discipline, and leadership abilities of each cadet:

  • First Year – Foundation Training: Cadets begin with foundational training, covering NCC basics, physical fitness, discipline, and drill practices to establish core skills and an understanding of the NCC’s values.
  • Second Year – Skill Building and Participation: In the second year, cadets advance to participating in diverse camps, events, and competitions at Group, Directorate, National, and even international levels. These experiences enhance their confidence and play a crucial role in personal growth. During this year, cadets take the NCC ‘B Certificate’ examination, which is a milestone in their NCC journey.
  • Third Year – Leadership Development: By the third year, cadets assume management roles, where they handle administrative and leadership responsibilities within NCC activities, refining their skills in leadership and character. At the end of this year, cadets appear for the NCC ‘C Certificate’ examination, the highest level of achievement in their NCC training.

Institutional Training

Cadets begin with foundational training, covering NCC basics, physical fitness, discipline, and drill practices to establish core skills and an understanding of the NCC’s values.

Annual NCC Camps and Special Camps

Includes participation in group-level, Directorate, National, and International camps like Combined Annual Training Camps (CATC), Republic Day Camps (RDC), and National Integration Camps (NIC), which broaden cadets' horizons and foster camaraderie.

Adventure Activities

Adventure camps with activities like trekking, mountaineering, paragliding, and sailing provide cadets with thrilling experiences that develop courage, teamwork, and mental resilience.

Drills and Parades

Regular parade practice and drill sessions hone cadets’ precision, discipline, and teamwork, which are critical components of NCC training.

Weapon Training and Firing Practice

Cadets undergo safe and supervised weapon training, which includes firing practice sessions, developing skills in handling firearms and learning safety protocols.

Social Service and Community Engagement

Involves participation in community services like Swachh Bharat campaigns, blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, and disaster relief efforts, fostering civic responsibility and empathy among cadets.

Leadership and Management Training

In the third year, cadets assume leadership roles in organizing and managing NCC events and training sessions, developing their leadership, planning, and organizational skills.

Personality Development Programs

Programs focused on building self-confidence, communication skills, and mental resilience through activities such as group discussions, public speaking, and workshops.

Examinations for ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificates

Preparation and examination sessions for cadets to earn their NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates, which are recognized qualifications that add value to career profiles.

Cultural Activities and National Celebrations

Cadets participate in cultural events and celebrations on occasions like Independence Day, Republic Day, and NCC Day, which foster national pride and unity.
