Anti-Ragging and General Discipline
DSPM’s Athalye-Sapre-Pitre College, (Autonomous), Devrukh, Tal. Sangmeshwar, Dist. Ratnagiri strictly adheres to a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. The college complies with the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Education Institutions, 2009. To enforce this policy, the college has constituted both the Anti-Ragging Committee (as per Regulation no. 6.3 (a)) and the Anti-Ragging Squad (as per Regulation no. 6.3 (c)), following the guidelines of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999. Ragging is strictly prohibited within the institute premises, and the college has implemented necessary measures to prevent such incidents. Strong disciplinary action will be taken against any student found guilty of engaging in ragging activities.
Objectives:
- To uphold and comply with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court and be vigilant on any acts amounting to ragging.
- To publicize to all students the directives and the actions that can be taken against those indulging in ragging.
- To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit a report to the Anti-Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders.
- Oversee the procedure of obtaining an undertaking from the students following the provisions.
- Conduct workshops against ragging menace and orient the students.
- To provide students the information about the contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distress calls.
- To offer services of counselling and create awareness to the students.
- To take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus/ Hostels.
The following behaviour is strictly prohibited on college premises:
- Any act of Indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with Rudeness.
- Any act that prevents or disrupts the Regular Academic Activity.
- Any activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, hardship, Psychological Harm or create Fear or Apprehension.
- Any act of Financial Extortion or Forceful Expenditure.
- Any act of Physical Abuse causing Assault, Harm, or danger to Health.
- Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS, or public insult etc.
- Any act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to human dignity.
- Any act of Wrongful Confinement, Kidnapping, molesting, or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass, or intimidation.
- Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging.
PUNISHMENTS FOR THOSE FOUND GUILTY
Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging, whether within the campus or outside, may face one or more of the following penalties:
- Cancellation of admission
- Suspension from attending classes
- Withholding or withdrawing scholarships, fellowships, and other benefits
- Debarring from test/examination participation or other evaluation processes
- Withholding of results
- Debarring from representing the institution in regional, national, or international events (such as meets, tournaments, youth festivals, etc.)
- Suspension or expulsion from the hostel
- Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters
- Expulsion from the institution, resulting in debarring from admission to any other educational institution.
- Collective punishment: When the individuals responsible for or involved in ragging are not identified, the institution may apply collective punishment as a deterrent, emphasizing community pressure against potential raggers.

Ratnagiri, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students is a top priority, and this includes a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Every student is responsible for contributing to this positive atmosphere by adhering to the institute’s anti-ragging guidelines. As part of this commitment, students are required to submit anti-ragging undertakings through the UGC portal at https://www.antiragging.in/ Once the undertaking is completed, students will receive a unique code, which must be submitted to the college office using the designated link provided by the institution. This process is mandatory and underscores each student’s role in fostering a safe and inclusive campus for everyone.
