Foster a deep understanding and appreciation for the diversity and significance of plant life, contributing to a sustainable and harmonious coexistence between humanity and the natural world.
Our mission to provide high-quality education, research, and outreach in the field of botany. We are committed to nurturing a dynamic learning environment that empowers students with the knowledge and skills in plant sciences through national and international collaborations.
To foster an environment of excellence by providing a comprehensive set of courses in Botany that enhances the understanding, fundamental and in-depth knowledge and technical competency.
To inculcate fundamental and advanced knowledge of the plant sciences, providing holistic approach on innovative teaching, entrepreneurship skills and research with local to global problems with a focus on plants and their role in balancing and protecting the Environment.
To develop Botany Department as a leading center of Plant Sciences in the country through educational excellence, research innovation, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
Department of Botany was established in the year 2009 on grant-in-aid basis. With a dedicated faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, the department strives to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field of plant sciences. The department is commitment to academic excellence, research, and fostering a holistic learning environment. Presently, Botany is being offered upto second year B.Sc. level.
Both faculty are Ph.D. qualified, experienced and are passionate about imparting knowledge and nurturing the intellectual growth of students. Dr. Pratap Naikwade has completed post-doctoral research at Arizona State University, USA by availing prestigious Raman Fellowship funded by UGC. The department is actively engaged in research and environment awareness activities. Faculty have expertise in areas such as Organic Manures, Weed utilization, Tissue culture of medicinal plants, Carbon Sequestration, Climate Change, etc.
The Botany department actively collaborates with other academic institutions, industry partners and non-government organizations from India and other countries like USA, Sweden, France, Mauritius, Japan to enhance the learning experience and promote research and outreach collaborations.
